FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Welcoming a Domestic Helper from Abroad

All Singapore citizens, Permanent Residents, and expatriates with valid work or employment passes who have a genuine need for a domestic helper at their home are eligible to apply, subject to approval by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). Expatriate employers are required to declare that their family members are residing with them when submitting the application.
Employers must pay a monthly levy for their Migrant Domestic Worker (MDW) of S$300 (normal rate) or S$60 (concessionary rate). Levy payments start on the fifth day after the MDW’s arrival in Singapore, including the day of arrival, and must be made via GIRO. If the employer does not maintain a valid GIRO account, the MDW’s Work Permit (WP) may be cancelled. Employers can view and pay their levy bills through the MOM e-Services portal using SingPass, via the “Check and Pay Foreign Worker Levy” system.
An employer may qualify for a levy concession for each Migrant Domestic Worker (MDW), up to a maximum of two MDWs per household, if the conditions set by MOM are met. In general, households may be eligible if they have a Singapore Citizen child or grandchild below 16 years old, or an elderly family member (Employer, Spouse, Parent, Parent-in-law, Grandparent, or Grandparent-in-law) who is a Singapore Citizen aged 67 or above. Households living with a family member with a disability may also qualify for a levy concession. Approval is subject to MOM’s assessment. For Indonesian MDWs: They speak Indonesian language which is quite similar to the Malay language used here in Singapore. Some of them who are college graduates or had worked in Singapore before would be able to speak and understand simple English. Most of them are Muslims and do not eat pork. However, most of them would not mind handling pork during their course of work if required by their employers. Generally, they are agreeable to work on day-off in-lieu of compensation of salary. For Filipino MDWs: Generally, they have a good command of English. Most of them are Catholics or Christians. Some may be agreeable to work on day-off in lieu of compensation of salary.
Indonesian MDWs generally earn about S$570 per month, while Filipino MDWs start from S$620 per month. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and capabilities.

On MDW Current Policies

How does the new MDW insurance policy affect a customer like me? Employers must ensure that their Migrant Domestic Worker (MDW) has sufficient medical insurance coverage in Singapore. This is a mandatory requirement before the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) can issue a work permit. Under the updated policy, starting July 2023, every MDW must be insured for at least S$60,000 per year for hospitalization claims, in line with the revised hospitalization subsidy guidelines. In addition, employers are required to purchase a Personal Accident Insurance policy for their MDW, with a minimum coverage of S$60,000. We still encourage employers to consider upgrading the MDW’s insurance plan for stronger coverage, as medical costs may exceed expectations during hospitalization.
Yes, an employer may repatriate the MDW without involving the agency, provided this does not violate any terms stated in the service agreement between the employer and the agency. However, we strongly recommend that the employer proceed with the repatriation through Nation, as this allows us to properly discharge any responsibilities on your behalf and help safeguard your interests.

Quality Home Services for Families

Our MDWs undergo personal interviews conducted by our staff and must pass several rigorous screenings to qualify for employment in Singapore. Initially, they are recruited by our provincial recruiters and then sent to designated Training Centres. At these centres, only applicants who meet the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) standards in Singapore are shortlisted for the first round of selection. Candidates must also satisfy preliminary physical, mental, and attitude requirements set by our agents before advancing to the second round. Those who pass the selection will participate in training programs at the centres. During training, MDWs with poor work attitudes or limited learning abilities are disqualified. Ultimately, only highly capable candidates are offered employment in Singapore.
All MDW profiles are securely stored on our Cloud server, allowing real-time access for all our Service Centres. This ensures that the same MDW is not selected by multiple employers.
We strive to offer a “1-in-1-out” service to employers, recognizing that replacements are often needed immediately after an existing maid is transferred. While we do our best to align the timing, we also ensure full compliance with MOM’s regulations and formalities.
Yes, we offer webcam and/or telephone interviews with your selected MDWs in their home countries. For candidates in remote or less accessible areas, prior notice is required to arrange these interviews.
Inevitably, some qualified MDWs may not be a good fit for certain employers due to personality or compatibility issues. In such cases, we offer counseling for the MDWs and advisory support for the employers. Following the necessary assessment, if the MDW needs to be transferred, we will provide a replacement as quickly as possible.
We highly value our customers and are committed to delivering exceptional service both before and after placement. We offer loyalty programs and a comprehensive range of services, including counseling for MDWs, work permit and passport renewals, home leave arrangements, embassy document endorsements, MDW replacements, skill upgrade courses, air-ticket arrangements, and repatriation upon contract completion. Additionally, we provide a dedicated hotline staffed by native-speaking counselors to assist your MDW whenever needed.
We offer a variety of service packages with different MDW replacement entitlements and fees. If needed, we can also customize a package to suit the specific requirements of the employer.
Domestic helpers can participate in social activities organized by non-profit organizations for foreign workers. However, we strongly recommend a dedicated e-learning platform designed specifically for domestic helpers to learn new skills, enhance their knowledge, and support personal development. The platform can be accessed anytime and anywhere via a digital device with Internet access. Tutorial videos are available in native languages such as Burmese and Bahasa Indonesian, making learning both easy and convenient.
We accept cash, Nets, Cheques and Credit card payment as well as online funds transfer such as PayNow and PayLah.
We have a refund policy on the balance of the advance payment in the event the MDW is returned and successfully transferred to a new employer. This policy is conditional upon the employers not breaching any of the clauses stated in the service agreement between the employer and the agency.
